As a Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality software that meets both business and user expectations. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that software is thoroughly tested for defects, verified for functionality, and validated against requirements.
As a Level 2 (Mid-Level) QA, you’ll bring technical expertise and a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You’ll contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts, collaborating closely with developers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to enhance the reliability and performance of our products.
As a mid-level QA professional, you will take on greater ownership and independence in the following areas:
Test Planning and Documentation:
- Create detailed test plans, test cases, and documentation to guide testing efforts.
- Contribute to defining acceptance criteria and quality benchmarks.
Manual Testing:
- Perform exploratory, functional, and regression testing.
- Validate end-to-end user workflows and ensure product usability.
Automation Testing:
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts to streamline regression testing.
- Implement automation strategies to improve test coverage and efficiency.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure requirements are testable and achievable.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Defect Management:
- Identify, document, and track defects using defect tracking tools.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Non-Functional Testing:
- Conduct basic performance and security testing to ensure the software meets non-functional requirements.
Reporting and Metrics:
- Provide clear and actionable test results, metrics, and progress reports to stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the QA process.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience:
- 2+ years of professional experience in a QA role, with exposure to both manual and automated testing.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in manual testing techniques with a keen eye for detail.
- Hands-on experience with automation testing tools (e.g., Datadog, Cypress, or equivalent).
- Experience in API testing using tools like Postman or Swagger.
- Knowledge of defect management tools (JIRA) and processes.
- Basic understanding of performance testing principles and tools (e.g., JMeter).
- Awareness of security testing practices and common vulnerabilities.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
